Roger is a self-taught landscape artist using watercolours and acrylic-based mixed media. Roger studied Geography and Geology at Hull University, and then Landscape Architecture at Manchester University. After retiring from his own landscape architecture business, Roger has more time for painting. Roger’s paintings have been chosen several times for the national exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries and in 2015 appeared on Sky TV’s Landscape Artist of the Year programme painting at Trelissick in Cornwall. Roger aims to express the underlying patterns in the landscape and uses acrylic mixed media combined with geological, Ordnance Survey and satellite maps to express the landscape. Areas of transition between lowland and upland are of particular interest. Typical subjects include Roger’s local area of Northamptonshire, but also extend to the Peak District, Cotswolds, Lake District, the Pennines and the north east and south west of England.
I have been working with fused glass since 1998 and now combine it with silver to make
jewellery reminiscent of seaglass or pebbles.
I don't try to replicate the natural world with my jewellery but I hope wearing it may bring back happy memories of finding the perfect pebble glistening in the sunshine.
Although inspired by the coast, I make all my glass jewellery in my studio in rural Northamptonshire,
a very long way from the sea...
I produce my own collection or original oils as well as develop creative skills for business and leisure. I run on-line and in person beginners oil painting workshops. I believe everybody can be creative, my workshops are about enjoy yourself and learning a new skill
I use figurative and abstract elements combined to produce work based on emotion, secrets, and inner stories, in oil pastel and oil paint. I am drawn to the power and beauty of the masculine form and feel driven to express poetic visions of modern life, how advancements in living conditions have made us sadder and more lonely, exploring the world in which we live - not much physically, but emotionally and spiritually. This is reflected in my current male nude series, "In My Mind", which features interpretations of the figure from within the mind of the subject.
I produce illustrations of pets and caricatures of people , sketching and painting with Photoshop. I also perform live caricatures as entertainment for corporate and social events.
I consider myself self-taught but have attended Art College & have achieved A-Level Art in Art & Design, Visual Arts. BTEC Foundation in Art & Design & BA-Hons in Graphic Art & Illustration.
